Ready, Set, Remit Membership Awards
Be sure to turn in a minimum of 30 membership dues to 16th District by October 15th to be eligible for the California State PTA Ready, Set, Remit Award. This due date is for all out-of council units and Councils. If you are in Mill Valley Council or North Marin Council, please check with your council leaders for their due dates. Those units pay membership dues to their respective Council, not directly to 16th District. You can find additional incentives and awards from CAPTA here.
The 16th District PTA website is getting a makeover! The new design will go live in the next 5 days and will remain at the address www.MarinPTA.org, but until the domain is transferred you can go over to sixteenthdistrictpta.org and check it out. A HUGE THANK YOU to our new Communications Chair Kathy Kingman, for the many hours she spent revamping the site. This new incarnation of the website will save money on communications and web expenses, will allow us to create a members correspondence area on the site, hold our blog and by October will be where you will be receiving your newsletters from. You are receiving this newsletter through Eventbrite today because we are still accepting online registration for the District Training. We will be transferring the mailing list to Wix in the next few weeks. Please make sure you accept any request from WIX.com if you get an email asking if you signed up for a mailing list.
You also have the option to register as a contributor to the site. As a contributor/member you will be allowed to make comments on blog posts and be granted access to member only areas of the site. Once the website goes live you may click on the icon at the top right of the site to create a profile.Feedback is welcome, if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see added or if you would like tips on creating a website for your PTA, please use this FEEDBACK FORM. Once the site is live you can also contact any of the 16th District Board members by going to the "About Us" tab on the website. We are also on social media! Be sure to also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest and greatest news about PTA. We need your photos! We are happy to announce that we have found a Reflections Chair for 16th District, Mira Brownfield. 16th District representatives have been busy advocating for students and teachers. We recently attended a Town Hall Meeting with US Congressman Jared Huffman and the First 5 Marin Education Equity Forum with State Superintendent Tony Thurmond. Both events were well attended by community members. During the Town Hall meeting, most questions and comments were related to climate change and the environment. 16th District PTA representatives were the only ones to bring up the topic of lack of funding for education. We were glad to be able to attend and be the voice of the thousands of PTA parents, students and teachers in Marin County.
We hope you can make it to district training!
